THE 1916 EASTER RISING...AS GAEILGE, PART 8

  1. A subject was addressed in the Eamonn Ceannt portion of this episode that I have been pondering from the beginning. That being that these men were spiritually driven to sacrifice their lives for love of country over their obvious love of family and responsibilities thereof. Quotes from Part 8 illuminate this point - "Perhaps divinity and old beliefs were stronger in these men than they are in Irish people today." and "They died for the good of the country, not the individual."
