THE NARRATIVE AND POLITICAL CORRECTNESS

Threats to freedom of speech, writing and action, though often trivial in isolation, are cumulative in their effect and, unless checked, lead to a general disrespect for the rights of the citizen. -George Orwell

THE CONSEQUENCES OF REDEFINING MARRIAGE

Dr. Joanna Rose is a campaigner for the rights of the children of sperm donation & surrogacy. Here she explains how legalizing same-sex "marriage" would deny many children the right to have any knowledge of their father or, in the case of surrogacy, their mother.

"I'M GAY AND I'M VOTING NO. HERE'S WHY..."

Keith Mills and Paddy Manning give powerful and compelling reasons for voting NO to redefining marriage on May 22. Use your vote. Vote No. See more at Keep Marriage.

A DEBATE ON IRELAND'S MARRIAGE REFERENDUM

The Republic of Ireland is holding a national referendum today regarding same-sex "marriage" and whether or not it should be a right under the Irish constitution. Essentially, the Irish will decide through a popular vote what the Supreme Court will decide for us next month here in the States.

The debate below took place last week in anticipation of today's crucial vote. It will give you a decent understanding of what is at stake. It's not just about SSM itself but also the consequences for natural families and children should the YES campaign be successful. In this debate, Patrick Treacy (representing the NO campaign) made the better argument.

RED EYE - JULY 2, 2013 FULL EPISODE

Greg welcomes guests Imogen Lloyd Webber, Keith Alberstadt and Nick Gillespie.

50,000 join Dublin march in protest at abortion law
MORE than 50,000 pro-life supporters marched on Leinster House yesterday in the first public protest since the expulsion of four Fine Gael TDs who failed to support the Government's abortion legislation.
The "All-Ireland Rally for Life" was addressed by several speakers including the founder of the Libertas movement, Declan Ganley, and Niamh Ui Bhriain of the Life Institute as well as representatives of Youth Defence.
Mr Ganley called on the Government to put the issue of abortion to the people in a referendum, and reminded Taoiseach Enda Kenny that every conscience matters.
He said the Fine Gael leader had made a grave error in breaking his promise.
"This Taoiseach has lost his way in the most fundamental way," he said.
"He has broken a promise about something more than money or power – he has broken his promise on human life itself."
The four Fine Gael deputies who have been expelled, and junior minister Lucinda Creighton, were cheered as Mr Ganley thanked them for "keeping their promise to the Irish people".
He said the Fine Gael rebels and those from other parties deserved the thanks of all those opposed abortion.
"We thank Colm Keaveney, who put his principles ahead of his career in politics," he said.
"We thank Billy Timmins, an officer and a gentleman patriot, who walked away from a career in Fine Gael to stand on the side of those who needed him.
"We thank Lucinda Creighton, who has stood firmly and with outstanding courage for her most deeply held convictions, and we thank Brian Walsh and Peter Matthews and Terence Flanagan who stood up when all the voices around them were screaming sit down and stay quiet."

HOW IT'S DONE IN THE REPUBLIC OF IRELAND

Let me start by saying that I do not necessarily endorse the political views of Clare Daley.  She is a Leftist, who stands out even in a largely liberal country like the Republic of Ireland.  However, I do agree with her basic complaints in this instance: the pathetic pandering to the Obama family while Michelle Antoinette and her children live it up and travel like royalty at the expense of taxpayers.  Did I say royalty?  Sure, Obama is the King of Hypocrites.

I also agree that the U.S. has no business arming the Syrian "rebels" who are, in fact, nothing more than an army of fanatical jihadists involved in an Islamic civil war between Sunnis and Shiites.

By the way, the "Mr. Tax Exile" Daley refers to is Bono.

My real point in posting this is for people to get a taste of what I think is the primary selling point of a parliamentary system: direct questions and answers between legislators and the executive.  The Republic of Ireland does have a president (Uachtaran na hEireann), but that office is largely ceremonial.  The head of the government is the Taoiseach, the Prime Minister, who is Enda Kenny of the Fine Gael party.  He's the one responding to Daley, an independent TD (Teachta Dail) who represents North Dublin.  This exchange is taking place in the lower house, known as the Dail Eireann.

I would never want the U.S. to adopt any kind of parliamentary system (our system is the best in the world!) but just picture this: Replace Clare Daley with Ted Cruz and Enda Kenny with Barack Obama.  How epic would that be?
