THE NARRATIVE AND POLITICAL CORRECTNESS

Threats to freedom of speech, writing and action, though often trivial in isolation, are cumulative in their effect and, unless checked, lead to a general disrespect for the rights of the citizen. -George Orwell

MEG-ALOMANIA AT THE UNIVERSITY OF WYOMING

Meg Lanker-Simons speaking at a rally

I really think Michelle Malkin has said it best: "...liberals see racism where it doesn't exist, fabricate it when they can't find it, and ignore it within their own ranks."  The same goes for all the other "isms" about which the Left is obsessed.

The latest example took place two weeks ago at the University of Wyoming.
The University of Wyoming Police Department says Meg Lanker-Simons created the anonymous threat of sexual violence targeted at her on social media last week.
The university announced Tuesday that campus police cited Lanker-Simons for misdemeanor interference with a police investigation.
Lanker-Simons accused an anonymous source of posting a threat of rape on the Facebook page "UW Crushes" on April 24. But the citation issued Monday claims Lanker-Simons admitted to making the post, then lying about it.
The UW senior told the Star-Tribune on Tuesday that the police accusations were untrue. Lanker-Simons said she retained legal counsel and filed an entry-of-appearance plea of not guilty. The citation set a court date for May 13. Charles Pelkey, Lanker-Simons' attorney, declined to comment.
UW Crushes was a forum designed for students to anonymously write about their love interests and sexual desires. UW administrators have since had the page removed. Prior to its removal, anyone could have signed into a Facebook account, gone to UW Crushes and secretly submitted a comment via a link to surveymonkey.com. The posts were then made public on Facebook.

As the anonymous fake Rethuglican, Lanker-Simons wrote:
"I want to hatefuck Meg Lanker Simons so hard.  That chick that runs her liberal mouth all the time and doesn't care who knows it.  I think its hot and it makes me angry.  One night with me and shes gonna be a good Republican bitch."
Then Lanker-Simons saw what she had written and decided to bravely and snarkily reply to the anonymous fake Rethuglican dude for everybody to see:
"Actually, I want this to stay up.  This is disgusting, misogynistic, and apparently something the admins of  this page think is a perfectly acceptable sentiment - particularly seeing as there's no disclaimer about "not being responsible for content" (because they are) or "content not endorsed" (so I assume it is), etc.  Remember, there was a creeper that took the time to think this up and type it, but it took an admin to publish it.  Even if it's taken down, I'm left to wonder if there's someone out there with a violent fantasy about me - and likely other women."
To the person who wrote this: Assuming you're serious, get some help.  Please.  If the only way you can relate to women is through your sexual organs and anger, I encourage you to visit the UW Counseling center post-haste.  It is in room 341 in Knight Hall, (307) 766-2187.  Instead of focusing on how angry and turned on me "running my mouth" makes you, perhaps you should listen instead.  You might learn something.
The website Urbandictionary.com defines "hatefuck" as a verb meaning "to have sex, especially in a rough manner, with someone who one finds physically attractive but personally loathsome."

While I suspect her real purpose was to embarrass the administrators of UW Crushes while creating an opportunity for public protests, it's clear that Lanker-Simons enjoyed the opportunity to make believe that some Republican dude was actually fantasizing about her.  What a vivid imagination she has!

As intended, the online "threat" to Lanker-Simons, a well-known liberal blogger and radio host, caused considerable outrage, especially from her fans. The "threat" sparked "rape-culture" awareness protests last Monday, April 29, at the university.

Meanwhile, the police had obtained a warrant to search Lanker-Simons' computer and found "substantial evidence" the threat was created on her computer while it was in her possession, according to a media release from the university.  She also lied to the police, which is the reason for the citation.

Megyn Kelly and Katherine Timpf of Campus Reform had some fun with this story last Friday.  Timpf wrote:
According to a Facebook page that apparently belongs to Lanker-Simons she is a member of the University of Wyoming Gender & Women's Studies group as well as the school’s chapter of The Nonviolent Communist.
Since police cited her, supporters have a constructed a Facebook page entitled "Meg Lanker-Simons is innocent."
"Meg Lanker-Simons is innocent we believe what she did was justified and deserves not to be held accountable for her accusations we stand behind you sister," reads that page’s description.
Lanker-Simons was in the news in 2010 when she was a plaintiff in a successful lawsuit against UW after it retracted its invitation to have Bill Ayers speak on campus.
Here's an article concerning Lanker-Simons and Ayers.  Not surprisingly, she claimed that she received "death threats" for that as well.

Via This Ain't Hell:

Here she is being honored by Think Progress and Mother Jones.

Here’s her deleted Twitter Page.

Her award winning Tumblr page has moved to an undisclosed location.

As I said at the top, this is merely the latest hate crime hoax outrage.  Here's an article from last month about a college student who actually used Craigslist to find a man to beat her up and have sex with her so that she could then claim that she was raped on campus.
Triplett, 20, a student at University of California-Santa Barbara, allegedly posted two abuser-wanted ads in the Santa Cruz County region of Craigslist. In both, she promised she wouldn't file charges.
The one seeking somebody to shoot her in the shoulder in exchange for sex didn't pan out. However, Triplett did find someone willing to "punch, kick and bruise her in exchange for sex," reports the Register-Pajaronian.
Triplett met her unnamed mangler somewhere on or near the UC Santa Cruz campus, reports local NBC affiliate KSBW.
According to court records, "they had sex and afterwards she used a cellphone screen reflection as a mirror to see if the injuries were bad enough. (Triplett) then directed him to hit her some more."
With fresh bruises to substantiate her twisted tale, Triplett then notified 911 that a mysterious assailant had raped and pummeled her while she was walking on a path looking for banana slugs (the UCSC mascot, incidentally).
Prosecutor Johanna Schonfield noted that local law enforcement had wasted countless hours investigating the fraudulent crime.
As the article points out, creating needless busy work for the authorities is just another poisonous byproduct of the left-wing nutjobs who perpetrate them.  It takes away time that could be spent investigating real crimes.

James Taranto provided some additional insight on the problem:
Some hate-crime hoaxers have motives that are more personal than political. The New York Times, reporting in 1988 on the grand-jury report in the Tawana Brawley hoax, noted that "evidence suggested that she may have feared the wrath of her mother's boyfriend for her late nights out." In 1998 Associated Press reported that Cornelius Weaver, a black Louisiana man who claimed he had been dragged behind a car by three white men - similar to what actually happened to a black Texan named James Byrd - recanted and admitted he had invented the story to cover up a drug deal that went bad.
Finally, Michelle Malkin has written extensively about the Left's history of staging hate-crime hoaxes. Follow the link to see a list of these false flag operations.

  1. You know, this happening in Santa Barbara, I thought for once..."'It's actually an attractive woman staging one of these hoaxes! How rare is that?!!"

Oh well, can't get them all right. Got upstaged by the only frumpy chick in Santa Barbara...
