Hillary Clinton: We're Not 'Truly Well Off'
In an interview published by the Guardian on Sunday, former Secretary of State and presumed 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton revisited the issue of her slightly-higher-than-average income by saying she wasn't "truly well off."
The interviewer had asked how Clinton planned to speak to the resurgent issue of income inequality given her and her husband's significant fortune, much of which has been gleamed from book deals and speaking engagements.
"They don't see me as part of the problem," Clinton responded, "because we pay ordinary income tax, unlike a lot of people who are truly well off, not to name names; and we've done it through dint of hard work." (Statement may not apply to other taxes.)
