NBC's Chuck Todd: Republicans Have Advantage in 2014 Senate Races
As the 2014 midterms start ramping up, Republicans are on the offensive and Democrats look like they're ceding ground, according to NBC's Chuck Todd.
Along with some strong chances to pick up seven seats held by Democrats in red states, such as South Dakota and West Virginia, Todd highlighted that Republicans have been able to put pressure on Democrats in states that were previously seen as tougher gets. Colorado, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, and Virginia are races that have now become competitive.
While that doesn't necessarily mean Republicans are likely to pick those seats up, at the very least they will make Democrats work harder and expend more resources than was previously expected. Furthermore, it gives the GOP more room for error in the races, including in states controlled by Republicans but could be tough to hold, such as in Georgia or Kentucky.
