Barbara Bush Rejects Political Dynasties, Hopes Jeb Doesn't Run
Former First Lady Barbara Bush, who is the mother of potential 2016 presidential candidate and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, spoke out against political dynasties in an interview with CSPAN.
"If we can't find more than two or three families to run for higher office, that's silly, because there are great governors and great eligible people to run," Bush said in a CSPAN interview that will air Monday. "There are a lot of ways to serve, and being president is not the only one, and I would hope that someone else would run."
She said that she hoped her son would not run for president because "there are other families. I refuse to accept that this great country isn't raising other wonderful people." However, she then said she believed Jeb was the best qualified for the job.
Jeb Bush may be considering a run for president even more after Republican New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's "Bridgegate" scandal, which may have helped Bush the most. Bush took to Twitter to poke fun at his mother after hearing of her remarks:
What date is Mother's Day this year? Asking for a friend.
