Marco was asked Sunday morning on Face the Nation about Ted Cruz's unclear views on immigration. He pointed out that it's not just immigration where Cruz has told voters one thing and then done another:
There are multiple issues on which he's tried to do these sorts of things. For example, when the free trade agreement was up, he wrote an opinion piece in the Wall Street Journal, he wrote it with Paul Ryan. And just three days later, he flipped on it, after I don't know why - he got some pressure on the fast track authority. He's done it on votes on farm issues. In fact, changed his vote on the floor of the Senate.
So there is always some of that, because new facts are presented. But I think my concern is the voters: If you're going to attack someone on a policy issue, you need to be clear where you stand on the issue, and where you stood in the past...
I think when you spend your whole time telling people you are a clear talker and you say what you mean, and everyone else is a sellout, but you're the only purist, I think it is fair to say hold on a second. Here is where you have been in the past on some issues, and here is where you are now. The truth is everyone running on the Republican side supports strong, conservative positions.
Republicans want a candidate who can beat Hillary Clinton. A new Fox News poll finds Marco Rubio performs best against the presumptive Democratic nominee.
Rubio has an eight-point edge: 50 percent to Clinton's 42 percent.
Rubio not only commands the widest margin against Clinton, he's the only one who hits the 50 percent mark. Rubio's margin comes entirely from men, who go for him over Clinton by 17 points. The two are tied among women voters.
This is the first time Rubio has topped Clinton, although it's always been close -- she was up by just one point in June (45 Clinton vs. 44 Rubio).
The poll also finds that GOP primary voters are somewhat more likely to prioritize having a nominee who can beat the Democrat (78 percent "very" important) than someone who is serious about shrinking government (71 percent "very" important).
Schweizer then turns his attention to Ericsson, a Swedish telecom company that was providing services to the Iranian government, despite its sponsorship of terrorism, at a time when the State Department was cracking down on such deals.
"Ericsson decided to sponsor a speech by Bill Clinton and paid him more than he had ever been paid for a single speech: $750,000," Schweizer writes. "According to Clinton financial disclosures, in the previous ten years Ericsson had never sponsored a Clinton speech. But now it apparently thought would be a good time to do so."
Clinton gave the speech on November 12, 2011. "One week later, on November 19, the State Department unveiled its new sanctions list for Iran," the book continues. "Telecom was not on the list." Even when Obama imposed sanctions on telecom sales by executive order in 2012, "those sanctions did not cover Ericsson's work in Iran."
If Schweizer's theory is correct, Obama's rapprochement with Iran paid dividends for the Clintons more than once...
Organizers in France estimated that upwards of 3.7 million people attended a Sunday unity rally in Paris in response to the attack on the satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo. Among those marchers were a variety of world leaders, but President Barack Obama was not among them.Nor did the president send any ranking administration officials to represent the United States. Not even Attorney General Eric Holder, who was in Paris at the request of French authorities, attended the march. The United States was utterly absent from this global event.
Obama did not even bother to attend a solidarity march for Paris that was held in Washington D.C. yesterday despite the participation of American officials like the State Department's Victoria Nuland. "Obama wasn't far from the march in D.C. on Sunday that wended silently along six blocks from the Newseum to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial,"Politico reported. "Instead, he spent the chilly afternoon a few blocks away at the White House, with no public schedule, no outings."
For this decision, the president is enduring a deluge of criticism from both the left and the right, as well as from the nonpartisan press. Americans in general have been humiliated by their country's absence during this historic display of support for free expression.
"Sadly, I can't help but view this as a painful point of national embarrassment and a failure to play our part on the world stage - and I say that as one who has never before accused President Obama of embarrassing the nation he leads," wrote outspoken liberal columnist Rick Ungar in Forbes.
"I say this as an American - not as a journalist, not as a representative of CNN - but as an American: I was ashamed,"CNN anchor Jake Tapper wrote.
Even the often staid and demure participants on CNN's politics panel on the morning show New Day were animated over the absence of America from this pivotal symbolic event...

Republican state senator Elbert Guillory of Louisiana, who recently switched from the Democratic party, has announced the creation of a new political action committee with the goal of electing black conservatives. Guillory will serve as honorary chairman of Free At Last PAC, which intends to promote "Republican values in all communities."
"Liberalism has nearly destroyed black America. And now it's time for black America to return the favor."
It started with this, which apparently led to this. Shortly afterwards came this...and this...and finally this. Unbelievable! At a time of transition, when the Republican Party is seeking to expand the tent and attract not only new voters but new and talented individuals to run for office, we get this nonsense. It's hard enough being an Illinois Republican I would think without idiotic, racist, sexist, demeaning and embarrassing self-inflicted wounds making it worse. Ironically, this ugliness could actually help Erika Harold going forward. In the past she has proven herself to be a tough-minded, staunch social Conservative who can overcome adversity. Merely by throwing her hat into the ring she has disrupted the status quo in the Illinois GOP. If she can win the primary and then win the general election then Erika Harold can be a very welcome addition the House GOP and yet another disruptor of the Narrative!
This past weekend, former New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson made the statement that Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) should not be "defined as a Hispanic." And recently, South Carolina Democratic Party Chairman Dick Harpootlian said South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley should be "sent back to wherever the hell she came from."
I recall making a statement that we should take the liberal philosophy of governance that is contrary to that of our constitutional republic "the hell out of America" - and the left-wing progressive media went crazy.
So how is it that there is no outrage when a state party chairman calls for the female governor to be sent back to wherever she came from? And, just so everyone knows, Governor Haley is from South Carolina and is a Clemson University graduate.
This is evidence of the duplicitous hypocrisy in politics, which is the topic of a recent video commentary I did for NextGeneration.TV.
There is nothing more threatening to the white liberal elite establishment than a minority conservative, and they will go to any length to destroy that individual. What is worse, they will employ minority liberal gatekeepers to attack that individual as well to delegitimize that person in their own community.
The comments of Bill Richardson and Dick Harpootlian are disgusting, but we must understand - and recognize - the Alinskyite tactic. And in recognizing the tactic, those of us who are minority conservatives are emboldened to stand even stronger.
The next generation of Americans will need those of us who are so vehemently attacked to never stand down. We have the opportunity to encourage the future Clarence Thomas, Ted Cruz, Nikki Haley, and other leaders who will stand up for American principles.
