SURPRISE: NY TIMES HIT PIECE IGNORES SCOTT WALKER'S SUCCESS

One fact that doesn't appear anywhere in the lengthy Times piece: The reforms worked. Wisconsin taxpayers saved $3 billion dollars as a result of the budget reforms Walker implemented.

It's as if the reporters believe effective governance is irrelevant to electoral success. Or, to put it more accurately, it's as if the reporters believe effective conservative governance is irrelevant to electoral success.

Here's an alternative to the Times's narrative on Walker:

A reform-minded conservative, frustrated by special interests in his attempts to bring change to county government, implemented aggressive reforms at the state-level. The reforms limited the ability of those special interests to drive taxpayer spending further into the red.  And, importantly, the reforms worked. Voters, no doubt influenced by paid media, recognized that fact and reelected him.

Perhaps the story isn't so much radical right-wingers bankrolling an ambitious politician who "always liked going to the extremes" as it is a rare example of a politician making good on promises made and voters rewarding him?

And perhaps an article that purports to elucidate "the reasons for Mr. Walker's success" ought to mention, at least in passing, that the reforms at the heart of his governorship and his imminent presidential candidacy, actually worked.

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker delivered his two-year budget address Tuesday night, the highlight of which for many was the promise to defund Common Core testing.

WLUK's Alex Ronallo gave a brief but comprehensive overview of the address.

Again, the promise to pull state funding for the Smarter Balanced assessment, a standardized exam which is aligned to Common Core State Standards, was the most interesting news to conservatives.

Wisconsin Planned Parenthood Abortion Biz Backs Mary Burke for Governor

Walker has been a pro-life champion as Wisconsin's governor.

In July, Walker signed Senate Bill 206 (Sonya's Law) into law.  This important new law requires that women seeking abortions in Wisconsin be given the opportunity to see their unborn children through ultrasound.

Since Governor Walker took office in January 2011, the pro-life movement in Wisconsin has made monumental gains. Walker signed into law a state budget that included a provision to prohibit the UW Hospital Authority from being involved in performing abortions and from using taxpayer dollars to pay medical students to learn how to perform abortions. Walker steered Wisconsin Well Woman funds to local counties instead of Planned Parenthood.

Governor Walker also signed bills that allow Wisconsin to opt out of abortion funding under Obamacare, to protect pregnant women from coerced abortions and to prohibit RU486 chemical web cam abortions.

Walker's pro-life achievements have earned him the praise of Wisconsin's top pro-life groups and, contrary to the claims from abortion advocates, the support of many women. Just one example comes in the form of a letter to the editor in the Stevens Point Journal, entitled "Kudos to Governor Walker for pro-life record." The author, Kathleen Sommers of Custer, Wisconsin, thanks Walker for standing up for women by signing the bill banning coerced abortions.

Thousands of employees are quitting public sector unions in Wisconsin

The diminishing number of union members is more a reflection of the unions themselves that it is on Walker or his policies. Nobody forced so many employees to leave the unions. The new law simply unlocked their cage and allowed them to leave if they wanted to.

The fact that so many took advantage suggests that public sector unions can only thrive when they have thousands of imprisoned members who have dues involuntarily deducted from their paychecks.

If that's the case, should their sudden demise be considered a tragedy or a happy liberation for thousands of trapped workers who simply wanted their freedom?

THIS IS WHAT DEMOCRACY LOOKS LIKE!!
