THE NARRATIVE AND POLITICAL CORRECTNESS

Threats to freedom of speech, writing and action, though often trivial in isolation, are cumulative in their effect and, unless checked, lead to a general disrespect for the rights of the citizen. -George Orwell

NEW POLLS: OBAMACARE SUPPORT IS CRATERING

Welcome to the new sign-up deadline day!  It was supposed to be yesterday but this is ObamaCare we're talking about so naturally yet another "tweak" was required.  And just when it seemed that Dear Leader's approval numbers couldn't get any worse, two new polls released Monday revealed that support for ObamaCare is at an all-time low and that his signature healthcare legislation is now considered by many Americans to be his biggest disaster.

The latest CNN/ORC survey finds that support for the healthcare law has plummeted to a record low, with most Americans predicting skyrocketing costs for medical care, and a third don’t believe they will be able to keep their doctor.  As if that wasn't bad enough for Dear Leader, more than a third of voters in the new Gallup poll view ObamaCare as the president’s "greatest failure" as commander-in-chief.

Only 35% of those questioned in the CNN poll say they support the health care law - a 5-point drop in less than a month - while 62% say they oppose the law, up four points from November.  The irony is that the most significant drop in support has come from women.
"Opposition to Obamacare rose six points among women, from 54% in November to 60% now, while opinion of the new law remained virtually unchanged among men," CNN Polling Director Keating Holland said. "That's bad news for an administration that is reaching out to moms across the country in an effort to make Obamacare a success."
It's ironic but not surprising.  Earlier this month the Harvard millennials poll showed that young voters are souring on Obama and ObamaCare.  Millennials and women - the bedrock (along with black voters) of Obama support in his two successful elections have finally had enough.

And why not?  ObamaCare is bad for millennials.  It's bad for the middle class.  The "sticker shock" many people are experiencing is only the beginning.  You can read about other disturbing problems here and here and here.  It's even bad for Democrats, some of whom are belatedly willing to be honest in their assessments.  Naturally some diehard nutjobs still insist that ObamaCare will be a political strength for Democrats in 2014 - or at least not a problem - but what else should one expect from a pig but a grunt?

But hey, good news!  Dear Leader himself has finally signed up for ObamaCare...well, sort of, anyway:
In what an official acknowledged is a "symbolic" move since the president gets his medical care from the military, Obama selected a low-cost bronze plan through the District of Columbia exchange. He made the pick over the weekend while vacationing in Hawaii.
But Obama did not directly sign up for insurance. Rather, his staff went in person to sign him up, an official told POLITICO.
"Like some Americans, the complicated nature of the president's case required an in-person sign-up," the official said. "As you'd expect, the president's personal information is not readily available in the variety of government databases HealthCare.gov uses to verify identities."
Senior adviser Valerie Jarrett told American Urban Radio Networks that the president is "leading by example" by selecting coverage before the deadline to get coverage that takes effect on Jan. 1.
Got that?
