THE NARRATIVE AND POLITICAL CORRECTNESS

Threats to freedom of speech, writing and action, though often trivial in isolation, are cumulative in their effect and, unless checked, lead to a general disrespect for the rights of the citizen. -George Orwell

ObamaCare Woes Giving Energy Boost to Republicans
Republicans are back on offense, and more quickly than many had expected, after seeing their approval ratings plunge during last month's partial shutdown and worrisome talk of a possible U.S. debt default.
In the 2014 elections, "this is going to be a big issue, and it's not going away," said Daniel Scarpinato of the National Republican Congressional Committee. "Democrats who voted for Obamacare," he said, "are pretty desperately running around with their hair on fire, trying to distance themselves, which they're not going to be able to do."
Obama's job approval rating in the latest Pew Research Poll, released on Friday, stands at 41% (down 14 points since last December). Back in May his approval rating was at 51% but has moved steadily downward – to 46% in July, 43% in October and 41% this month. Meanwhile, a majority (53%) now disapprove of the way he is handling his job as President.

While Obama's approval ratings on his handling of the economy have generally been more negative than positive for most of his time in office, Obama's current rating is the worst of his Presidency, with only 31% approving and 65% disapproving. Among independents his approval rating on the economy is a pathetic 21% with 75% disapproving. More than a third (34%) of Democrats give Obama a thumbs down on the economy, with 64% giving him the thumbs up.

Obama also gets negative ratings on healthcare policy, with 37% approving and 59% disapproving.
